About me

     

Hi, I'm Alice and I run my pottery studio Little Shop of Pots in Ashwell, North Hertfordshire. I am a ceramic artist specialising in handbuilt stoneware gifts and homewares. My playful ceramics are stocked in various independent shops across North Herts, and I regularly host workshops in my cosy Ashwell studio as well as at community venues. I am also a tutor at Made With Clay Studio in Letchworth, where I support new learners on their clay journey and teach a regular class on a Tuesday evening.

I have a background in Fine Art and History of Art and spent many years in the fine art publishing world before making the leap in 2015 to pursue a more hands-on, creative path. That shift led me to clay - a material that perfectly matches my love for texture, storytelling and humour!

My work celebrates the everyday function of ceramics while never taking itself too seriously. Cultural references, cheeky slogans and unexpected design regularly appear. I prefer to celebrate surface over formal precision, and my ceramics are full of intricate hand-finishing and playful additions - making every piece feel personal, expressive and sometimes a little bit rebellious...
